Ajax Sporting Director Speaks Out Amid Claims That Arsenal Are Favourites To Seal £40M Transfer for Mohammed Kudus

Ajax’s sporting director, Sven Mislintat, stated that no team has made a genuine effort to secure the signing of Mohammed Kudus, who is also a target for Arsenal

Despite reports in the English media suggesting that the Ghanaian player might be interested in joining Arsenal, Mislintat was dismissive when asked about the possibility of the attacking midfielder changing clubs this summer.

“There are clubs that have informally enquired about him. I don’t expect an offer very soon, although you know that things can be different in the football world. Perhaps the interest is not as serious as everyone thinks…”

“The best thing for us is if Kudus and [Edson] Alvarez stay, then we keep two top players. But it is also possible that one goes, or both. It is important for us that the relationship with the players remains good. This can be done by being transparent and applying good principles. As we get closer to the deadline, the transfer fee, for example, goes up.”

Kudus currently has a pretty reasonable asking price

Mislintat highlights that Ajax intends to raise the asking price for their players as the summer transfer window draws to a close since finding suitable replacements becomes more challenging. Currently, Mohammed Kudus is estimated to be valued at £40m.

In comparison to other players that Arsenal is considering as alternatives, this valuation appears to be reasonable and not excessively expensive.

During the summer transfer window, Brighton was the first team to make an approach for Kudus. However, the 22-year-old player is believed to be eager to join a more prominent club.

Chelsea has also expressed interest in the player, and Manchester United has included him on their shortlist as a potential option if they are unsuccessful in persuading Atalanta to part with Rasmus Hojlund. Nevertheless, it appears that Kudus will remain at Ajax for the time being.
