Anticipated Chelsea XI vs. Crystal Palace: Sterling and Palmer Missing; Nkunku Set to Begin

In the match against Crystal Palace, Mauricio Pochettino will be missing his main attackers, while Christopher Nkunku may start for Chelsea for the first time.

Mauricio Pochettino is still getting used to his lineup after numerous first-team players sustained injuries.

Two of Chelsea’s most dangerous attackers will be absent from the match, forcing the manager to make forced substitutions against Crystal Palace.

During the pre-match press conference, Pochettino provided updates about a handful of his stars.

Though he ruled out midfielders Lesley Ugochukwu and Enzo Fernandez for the Palace match, he was still hopeful about starting Moises Caicedo.

In regards to his players’ fitness, he stated,

“Enzo, no, but we hope Moi, yes. “Moi was better on Sunday. He had a high fever, and that is why he was isolated. We hope he can train quickly and be ready for Palace.”

“We need to assess Lesley; I think he felt his hamstring again [against Wolves]. You have to be careful introducing players coming back from injuries, but the problem of Moi meant it was a difficult situation. He is a player we are going to miss, hopefully not too much because in a period like this we need all the players.”

Following Christopher Nkunku’s eagerly anticipated injury comeback and late consolation goal against Wolves on Sunday, Pochettino also discussed the Frenchman.

Pochettino went on, “At the moment he is coming back from injury his best position is more like a 10 or a 9, more than the left or right side like a winger. To cope with the demands of the Premier League and what the team needs, it’s better in these positions.”

“He is now starting to understand the Premier League, that teams are very aggressive, and the football is very different to other countries. “It’s good for him, more minutes. He will adapt little by little, but scoring will help him adapt quicker.”

Due to the suspensions of Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling for receiving bookings during the Wolves match, Nkunku will start the game.

With Robert Sanchez still sidelined, Djordje Petrovic should continue in goal, however the front four might be somewhat changed.

The central defense duo of Thiago Silva and Axel Disasi will start together because Benoit Badiashile did not perform well against Wolves after coming off the bench.

Due to injuries at left-back, Levi Colwill will continue to play there. Although Pochettino may try Ian Maatsen at right-back, Malo Gusto appears to be the best choice.

It’s possible that Moises Caicedo will rejoin the team and partner with Conor Gallagher in the midfield.

Nkunku will take over as the number-ten position behind Nicolas Jackson, the central striker who is still in severe need of a goal.

Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke are the greatest candidates to begin on the wings.

Predicted Chelsea XI: Petrovic; Gusto, Disasi, Silva, Colwill; Caicedo, Gallagher; Madueke, Nkunku, Mudryk; Jackson
