Arsenal facing final £105m Declan Rice obstacle amid West Ham transfer announcement

Declan Rice’s groundbreaking transfer to Arsenal for a staggering £105 million is on the verge of being confirmed, pending an agreement between West Ham and the Gunners on a crucial aspect.

Mikel Arteta and Edu had identified Rice as their primary target for the summer of 2023, and it seems they are finally close to achieving their objective. West Ham has verbally accepted Arsenal’s offer of £105 million, and the formal proposal was submitted to London Stadium last Tuesday evening.

The withdrawal of Manchester City from the race on the following morning further bolstered Arsenal’s position. However, the main point of contention for West Ham with Arsenal’s initial two bids was the payment structure.

The Hammers had concerns about Arsenal’s plan to spread the upfront fee of £75 million over multiple years.

Despite the substantial increase in the guaranteed amount, West Ham remained dissatisfied with the payment terms proposed by Arsenal, as they insisted on receiving the full upfront fee by the beginning of 2025.

Nonetheless, while a complete agreement has not been reached just yet, recent reports suggest that the transfer could be finalized within the next 24 to 48 hours, indicating that significant progress has been made.

Should the 24-year-old midfielder sign with Arsenal and his arrival be officially announced next week, he would be the club’s second acquisition of the summer transfer window.

The confirmation of Kai Havertz’s £65 million transfer from Chelsea was already announced earlier this week. Furthermore, the Gunners could soon finalize their third signing for the 2023/24 season, as negotiations are underway to secure Jurrien Timber from Ajax for a fee of around £40 million.

While it appears highly likely that negotiations will lead to Declan Rice joining Arsenal, the discussions are still in progress, and the primary reason for their continuation has now been disclosed. As reported by the Mirror, all major aspects of the deal have been resolved, and the only remaining point of contention is the specific timing of the installment payments.

The potential arrivals of Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice could make it a fantastic week for Arsenal. However, there is a possibility that things could get even better.

Arsenal players William Saliba and Reiss Nelson have reportedly reached agreements on new contracts with the club. Now that June 30 has passed, which marked the expiration of contracts for those with deals ending in the summer of 2023, the signed contract extensions for Saliba and Nelson could be announced very soon.
