Arsenal green-light Thomas Partey sale – with replacement decided already

Manager Mikel Arteta plans to let go of Thomas Partey, a prominent player from Arsenal, as the team undergoes a significant transformation.

There are reports of an impending transfer of Declan Rice to Arsenal for a staggering £105 million, setting a new record for an English player, and the club’s spending spree is anticipated to persist.

Additionally, Arsenal is close to finalizing a deal for defender Jurrien Timber. Arteta is also considering the acquisition of another midfielder, which could result in the sale of Partey, potentially to Saudi Arabia.

As per transfer insider Graeme Bailey, Thomas Partey is most likely to end up in Saudi Arabia as he is deemed surplus to requirements after the arrival of Declan Rice at Arsenal.

“They are trying to move him to Saudi Arabia, and if that happens, the chance of another midfield signing is strong,” Bailey told TEAMtalk, adding, “Declan Rice was always their first choice and they are delighted to get him over the line, but I am told they are looking for more.”

“It will be fascinating to see where they go from here,” continued Bailey. “But they have been linked with a number of options including the likes of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia. A third midfielder in their sights is Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana”.

Fofana, a World Cup runner-up, had been considered as a potential alternative to Rice, while fellow countryman Aurelien Tchouameni has also been linked with a move to Arsenal.

Additionally, there are reports that Arsenal is looking to sell Granit Xhaka this summer, with a reported asking price of £20 million. Transfermarkt values Partey at €35 million.
