Arsenal Transfer Latest: Auston Trusty out, David Raya in

According to several reports, there have been significant developments in two deals involving Arsenal – one for a new player joining the club and the other for a player leaving the club.

The Gunners have already made substantial signings this summer, spending a total of £208.5m to acquire Jurrien Timber, Declan Rice, and Kai Havertz.

However, it seems that Arsenal is not done with their incoming transfers, as there are indications of further arrivals.

At the same time, there is also considerable work to be done in the departures department.

One notable player on Arsenal’s radar is David Raya, the goalkeeper from Brentford.

The 27-year-old Spanish international has been a long-standing target for the Gunners, and his contract situation has provided an opportunity for Arsenal to take action. Raya’s current contract is set to expire, and he has publicly stated that he will not be signing a new deal.

Brentford has already secured a replacement for Raya by signing Netherlands international Mark Flekken from Freiburg for £11m on May 31.

This move has made it evident that Raya is likely to leave Brentford this summer. Despite having Aaron Ramsdale as their goalkeeper, Arsenal has moved swiftly to pursue Raya as a potential addition to their squad.

According to Fabrizio Romano, there has been a significant development in the potential transfer of David Raya to Arsenal. The Gunners and Raya have reportedly come to an “agreement in principle” regarding personal terms, indicating that the player is willing to join Arsenal.

However, the next step depends on Arsenal making a bid that satisfies Brentford’s demands. The Bees are believed to be seeking around £40 million for Raya’s transfer. Given that Raya is in the final year of his contract and Brentford has already signed a replacement goalkeeper in Mark Flekken, their bargaining power may be somewhat diminished.

Nonetheless, negotiations between Arsenal and Brentford over the transfer fee and payment structure are expected to pick up pace now, as both parties look to find a suitable agreement for the deal. It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will meet Brentford’s asking price for a player whose contract is nearing expiration.

Auston Trusty out

Auston Trusty, the 25-year-old USA international who plays as a centre-back, will be joining Sheffield United, as confirmed by the Daily Express’ Ryan Taylor, along with reports from the Athletic and Romano. Last season, he impressed while on loan at Birmingham City.

Sheffield United, the newly-promoted team, has accepted a £5m bid for Trusty, a move praised by Taylor as “superb business.” This is because Trusty was signed for less than £1.5m just two years ago, making it a financially favorable deal.

Trusty’s outstanding performances at Birmingham City earned him the Player of the Season award, suggesting he is more than capable of excelling in the Premier League.

The move makes sense for Arsenal as well, as they can use the £5m toward signing Raya, and it was unlikely that Trusty would have become a key player at the Emirates anyway.
