Chelsea may consider transferring some of their less prominent players to Paris Saint-Germain as part of their discussions to secure Kylian Mbappe this summer.

The Blues have shown interest in signing the forward, but the high asking price might be a potential obstacle.

PSG has made the decision to put Kylian Mbappe “up for sale” as he has chosen not to activate the contract extension clause in his current deal, making him a free agent at the end of the upcoming season. Despite Mbappe insisting on staying, interested clubs are hopeful of persuading him otherwise.

The Times reports that PSG is open to entertaining bids of over £87 million for the French international and plans to initiate talks with potential suitors in the coming week. Several parties, including Saudi clubs, Chelsea, and Real Madrid, have expressed interest.

In an attempt to position themselves as frontrunners in securing the 24-year-old’s signature, Mauricio Pochettino’s team could propose a deal involving some of their fringe players to PSG.

Soccerdailyuk explores three potential options that Chelsea could consider offering in such negotiations.

Hakim Ziyech

It would come as quite a surprise if Chelsea didn’t propose Ziyech to PSG, considering he was close to joining the Ligue 1 team in January. The Moroccan player has been considered unnecessary for Chelsea and is eager to leave, especially since he lost his position in the team under both Graham Potter and Frank Lampard.

Unless there are significant changes in the situation, it’s unlikely that Ziyech will remain a Chelsea player next season, as he’s not even part of their pre-season squad.

Therefore, it would make sense for Chelsea to offer him as part of any negotiations for other players before the transfer window closes.

Romelu Lukaku

PSG has already started looking for potential replacements for Mbappe, and one of the prominent names being strongly considered is Tottenham star Harry Kane.

Another plausible option for the Parc des Princes is Lukaku, especially considering his expressed desire to leave Chelsea and the recent breakdown in his relationship with Inter Milan, which was previously seen as a likely destination for him.

Raheem Sterling

Despite Pochettino’s positive remarks about Sterling since he joined the team, there are doubts about how often the winger will be part of the starting lineup next season.

With numerous new signings vying for positions in the first eleven, the England international might end up spending a considerable amount of time on the bench.

Considering this situation, Chelsea could see Sterling as a valuable option to reduce the price they would have to pay for Mbappe in any potential transfer deal.
