Enzo Fernandez, Raheem Sterling and Levi Colwill given new Chelsea squad numbers

Enzo Fernandez, Raheem Sterling, Levi Colwill, and Mykhaylo Mudryk have all chosen new uniform numbers for the upcoming season, as Mauricio Pochettino continues to rebuild Chelsea.

As the Blues seek to rebound from their worst-ever Premier League season, new manager Mauricio Pochettino has overseen a number of incoming and outgoing players at Stamford Bridge this summer.

The likes of Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Axel Disasi and Robert Sanchez have all joined the club in big-money deals, while N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount, Cesar Azpilicueta, Kai Havertz, Kalidou Koulibaly, Mateo Kovacic, Edouard Mendy, Rubeen Loftus-Cheek, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ethan Ampadu and Christian Pulisic have completed permanent exits.

As a consequence, there have been numerous changes to Chelsea’s squad numbers for the upcoming season, including the switching of existing players.

Enzo Fernandez, who joined Chelsea from Benfica for £105 million earlier this year, will replace Mateo Kovacic as the club’s number eight.

As a consequence, the number five jersey that Fernandez wore last season has been given to defender Benoit Badiashile, and the number four jersey has become available.

Following Kante’s transfer to Saudi Pro League club Al Ittihad, Raheem Sterling has changed his number from 17 to 7.

Levi Colwill, who recently signed a new six-year contract with Chelsea after an impressive loan stint at Brighton, will now don the number 26 shirt that club legend John Terry wore throughout his career.

This position was vacated by Koulibaly, who moved to Saudi Arabia to play for Al Hilal.

New agreement Nkunku has assumed the number 18 jersey, but will miss the season’s opening due to a knee injury.

As a result of Mykhaylo Mudryk’s transition to the number 10 shirt vacated by Christian Pulisic’s transfer to AC Milan, striker Jackson will don number 15.

Kepa Arrizabalaga is still Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper, while Robert Sanchez is the 31st.

Disasi will be wearing the number two. Joao Felix has returned to Atletico Madrid from his brief loan stint at Stamford Bridge, causing Noni Madueke to switch from number 31 to number 11.

Malo Gusto, Lesley Ugochukwu, and Andrey Santos will wear numbers 27, 16, and 20 respectively.

As a result of extending his contract with Chelsea, Levi Colwill will don the number 26 shirt made iconic by John Terry.
