Erik ten Hag Ruthlessly Issues Departure Orders to Eric Bailly and Brandon Williams

Erik ten Hag has been unafraid to release a number of Manchester United players as exit transfers are being planned.

Erik ten Hag has once again demonstrated his ruthlessness by reportedly informing Eric Bailly and Brandon Williams that they are free to depart Manchester United on permanent transfers.

Both players were not included in the squad that defeated Wolves 1-0 in the Red Devils’ season-opening Premier League game and could join the list of players cut by the Dutch manager.

The Manchester Evening News reports that both players have been told they can leave Old Trafford if suitable offers are made.

The Ivory Coast defender has had his shirt number revoked, and Williams has been told it would be in his best interest to depart Old Trafford in search of consistent playing time.

While fellow forgotten man Donny van de Beek remains in talks with La Liga side Real Sociedad regarding a permanent move, Ten Hag seeks to trim his squad before the transfer window closes in two weeks.

One year ago, the manager banished Williams, Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe, Teden Mengi, and Shola Shoretire from the United dressing room, along with four other stars.

Jones and Tuanzebe have since departed on free transfers, but the other three have yet to leave a lasting impression on Ten Hag and have struggled to make the first team.

Erik ten Hag has let go of two additional Manchester United players.

The most prominent victims of Ten Hag’s ruthlessness have been Cristiano Ronaldo and David De Gea, as the five-time Ballon d’Or winner was swiftly discarded by the then-new manager.

The Dutchman demoted Ronaldo to a rotation option, which so enraged the striker that he scheduled an interview with Piers Morgan to relieve before the club terminated his contract.

This summer, De Gea was offered terms on a new contract as his current deal was expiring.

However, the club reportedly reneged and, despite agreeing in principle to an extension, only presented a contract with a drastically reduced salary, despite the fact that the Spanish goalkeeper was already willing to take a pay cut.

Eric Bailly spent last season on loan from Manchester United to Marseille.

It remains to be seen whether Bailly and Williams suffer the same fate as Ronaldo and De Gea, as the Portuguese striker now plays for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia and the former Manchester United goalkeeper is currently a free agent.

Bailly is purportedly attracting interest from Saudi and Turkish clubs, while Leeds have reportedly targeted Williams in their quest to return to the Premier League at the first attempt.

He would reunite with Daniel Farke after spending the 2021/22 season on loan with the German manager at Norwich.
