Ferran Torres makes feelings very clear with response to Arsenal transfer question

Barcelona forward Ferran Torres has dismissed any concerns about transfer rumors connecting him to a possible move to Arsenal this summer.

The 23-year-old player has reportedly attracted interest from both Arsenal and Aston Villa due to his underwhelming performance at Camp Nou.

Despite having scored just eight LaLiga goals for Barcelona in the 18 months since joining from Manchester City, Torres remains untroubled by the speculations.

Last season, Torres featured in 45 games for Barcelona, contributing to their LaLiga triumph, although a significant portion of those appearances came as a substitute.

With four years remaining on his contract, uncertainty looms over his future with the club. Reports suggest that Barcelona’s manager, Xavi Hernandez, is open to the idea of selling players to raise funds, and Torres could be among those considered.

However, despite the uncertainties, Ferran Torres is committed to proving himself and fighting for his place in the team.

Following Arsenal’s 5-3 victory over Barcelona in California, where Torres scored Barcelona’s third goal, he was asked about his future, and his response indicated a determination to stay and compete for his spot at the club.

When asked about the rumours post-game, Torres said: “The names on Barca transfer list are placed by the journalists.

“I have a contract here, I’m going to stay. I don’t care what is said about me. I’m going to work like anyone else. I am the first self-critic, it was not a good season last year but I learned a lot. These ups and downs have helped me to be stronger now.”

Arsenal emerged triumphant as they secured victory with goals from Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, Fabio Vieira, and two goals from Leandro Trossard.

During this summer, the Gunners made a significant signing by bringing in Havertz, who is likely to feature in midfield under Mikel Arteta’s management, forming a fresh and formidable trio alongside captain Martin Odegaard and the high-priced acquisition, Declan Rice, in their revamped setup.

Villa appears to have a stronger interest in acquiring Torres, especially since their former manager Unai Emery is getting ready to lead them in a European campaign at Villa Park.

Having qualified for the upcoming Conference League tournament, Villa has strengthened their team with notable signings like record acquisition Moussa Diaby, Spanish defender Pau Torres, and Youri Tielemans, with Emery aiming to compete for a top-four position.

On the other hand, Arsenal has already made substantial investments, exceeding £200 million, to secure the services of Havertz, Jurrien Timber, and Rice for the Emirates team this summer. Despite these significant signings, Mikel Arteta has hinted that he still desires further reinforcements for his squad.

“Let’s see, there is a lot of time still in the market,” said Arteta when asked about more transfers. “There is a lot of expectation with some of our players. We will have to see how things develop in the next few weeks. We will be alert, there is still time to do things, there is still time for exits obviously, so I am sure things will move.”
