Graeme Souness Envisions Bright Future for Mount at Man United Post-Chelsea Move

Mason Mount is expected to thrive at Manchester United, according to Graeme Souness.

Mason Mount will be a’very fine player’ for Manchester United, according to Graeme Souness, following his £60 million summer transfer from Chelsea.

Mount’s 18-year connection with Chelsea came to an end when he became Erik ten Hag’s first signing of the 2023 summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old played 195 times for Chelsea, helping the club win the Champions League in 2021, and has 36 caps for England.

Souness says he’s ‘always admired’ Mount and believes he’ll thrive at Manchester United, where he’ll join Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund.

“I have always liked Mount, there is nothing to dislike about him,” Souness revealed to the Daily Mail.

“He has great technique and works his socks off. He is also leaving a big club to join, arguably, the biggest club.

“But he has shown he can handle the expectation of playing for Chelsea and England and, if he takes to his new surroundings at Old Trafford, he could be a star.

Souness has stated that he has ‘always liked’ the former Chelsea player.

“He needs to get more goals playing that far up the field. And he can, because he’s cute enough in those areas.

“His record at Chelsea was one in six, which is good, but the challenge is to make that even better. I think he will be a very good player for Manchester United.”

Manchester United finished third in the Premier League and won the League Cup in Ten Hag’s first season at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils kick off their 2023-24 season against the Wolves on Monday night.
