Hakim Ziyech’s £8m move collapses as Chelsea star fails medical at Saudi club

Chelsea has been dealt a setback in their transfer plans as Hakim Ziyech’s intended transfer to Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia has fallen through due to a failed medical examination.

The Daily Mail reports that during the medical assessment, it was discovered that Ziyech has a knee issue, preventing the completion of the £8m move.

Ziyech has been listed among the players Chelsea intends to offload this summer, and this is the second time his departure from Stamford Bridge has encountered obstacles. Previously, in January, he was close to joining Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), but Chelsea failed to finalize the necessary paperwork in time.

According to Transfermarkt, Hakim Ziyech still has two years remaining on his contract with Chelsea. The club will now actively seek potential suitors who can offer a deal to sign him in the upcoming days.

Ziyech’s tenure as a Chelsea player has been quite disappointing, to say the least. The Moroccan international has struggled to maintain consistency whenever he has been given the opportunity to play. Additionally, he has been lacking the sharpness and impact that he exhibited during his time at Ajax.

Hopefully, for Ziyech’s sake, this third attempt to secure a move to a new club in the summer will be successful. If Chelsea manages to recoup some funds from his sale, even if it’s just a small amount, it can be utilized to strengthen their transfer budget.

In the midst of everything mentioned, we need to address the reasons behind Ziyech’s unsuccessful medical examination at Al-Nassr. Will his knee issue continue to obstruct his transfer in the foreseeable future? If so, what will Chelsea do after the transfer window closes? Perhaps we can defer this question to Mauricio Pochettino.

Currently, journalist  James Benge as reported by  Ben Jacobs,, provides an update indicating that Ziyech is unwilling to move to Al-Nassr. Despite Al-Nassr offering him a salary that is 40% lower than his initial offer prior to the failed medical, Ziyech is not inclined to accept it. It appears that Chelsea is unable to offload him.
