James McAtee’s uncertain Man City future

James McAtee is attracting interest from several clubs, including Sheffield United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Brighton and Hove Albion, and Celtic.

James McAtee’s future at Manchester City as an attacking midfielder is uncertain.

This summer, a number of clubs, including Sheffield United, are interested in signing the 20-year-old.

The reigning Premier League champions must decide the future of McAtee.

Sunday at Wembley, City lost the Community Shield on penalties to Arsenal. The adolescent was an unused substitute.

McAtee has participated in City’s preseason, making his debut in last month’s 2-1 friendly victory over Bayern Munich.

However, his playing time at the Etihad Stadium next season is likely to be limited.

City is reluctant to let McAtee depart, but United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Brighton and Hove Albion, Celtic, Real Sociedad, and AZ Alkmaar are all interested in signing the man dubbed the ‘Salford Silva’.

According to the Daily Mail report, some teams are interested in signing him on a permanent basis, while others are seeking a loan agreement.

The City academy graduate spent last season on loan with the promotion-winning Blades, netting nine goals and contributing four assists in 43 appearances.

The squad of Paul Heckingbottom is seeking midfield reinforcements.

There are growing concerns that Sander Berge will quit Manchester United before the start of the season.

Burnley is reportedly in advanced negotiations with Sheffield United to acquire the Norwegian international.

The midfielder has one year remaining on his current contract. Prior to this, it was believed in Sheffield that the former Genk player was content to run down his contract and depart for free next summer.

Burnley has been a longtime admirer of Berge, and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano says an agreement is imminent.

Berge will become the second high-profile player to leave Bramall Lane during the transfer window, following Iliman Ndiaye’s move to Marseille last week, if the transaction is finalized.
