Joao Felix drops West Ham transfer hint as ex-Chelsea player spotted sending Said Benrahma message

Speculation about Joao Felix potentially joining West Ham this summer has been sparked by a cryptic message he posted on social media. The 23-year-old forward, who previously had a loan spell at Chelsea, has been strongly linked with a return to the Premier League.

During his time at Chelsea, Felix made 16 appearances in the English top-flight and directly contributed to four goals. While he showed promise on certain occasions, he struggled to settle in at the club, which lacked cohesion.

According to an exclusive report by, Felix’s contract at Stamford Bridge did not include an option or obligation for West Ham to sign him permanently. Even if there had been a clause for the forward’s purchase, Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo revealed that manager Pochettino wasn’t interested in him anyway.

“We’ve been informed that Pochettino does not count with Joao Felix for Chelsea,” said the Spaniard. “He will return here, we’ll see. We have nothing planned.”

According to information from, it is known that Joao Felix enjoyed his time in London and expressed a desire to remain there after his loan period. However, Chelsea has decided not to pursue a permanent move for the Portuguese star, likely due to the arrival of Christopher Nkunku.

Although a return to west London seems unlikely, Felix has hinted at a potential move to east London instead. He shared a video on Instagram where he is seen starting his pre-season training while wearing a West Ham third shirt from the 2022/23 season, with the name of Said Benrahma, who is 22 years old, on the back.

It is worth noting that West Ham did not wear the third jersey, which Joao Felix was seen wearing in the video, during their matches against Chelsea last season. Instead, they opted to wear their home strip in each of the encounters between the two teams. Accompanying the post, Felix wrote: “@saidbenrahma11 *Algeria flag emoji* *handshake emoji*”

It is yet to be determined if West Ham has an interest in acquiring Felix, but the video has certainly generated discussions among fans. If the team from East London is indeed interested in making a deal, Diego Simeone has emphasized the necessity of presenting a financially appealing offer.

Speaking to El Partidazo De COPE in early June, as quoted BirminghamLive, the Atletico boss said: “Joao is our player. If Chelsea don’t want to sign him as apparently Pochettino decided… he will be back here and he will be part of our team. I can work with him, I’ve no problem at all with Joao. He knows that.”

Then, when asked if there’s been any bids for Felix, Simeone replied: “Bids for Joao Felix? We have to see if the proposal will be good financially for the club, that is crucial.”
