Kylian Mbappe makes final Chelsea transfer decision as Todd Boehly faces major contract headache

Chelsea’s chances of securing Kylian Mbappe’s signature this summer have received a significant boost. The 24-year-old forward’s future at Paris Saint-Germain is becoming uncertain as his contract with the club will expire in a year.

According to reports from the Spanish outlet Sport, Mbappe is open to the idea of testing his skills at Stamford Bridge but on the condition of signing a one-year deal.

This would allow him the freedom to explore other options at the end of the upcoming season. However, Chelsea prefers a long-term contract for the French international.

While Chelsea has been making promising strides in the negotiations over personal terms, they are yet to reach an agreement with PSG on the transfer fee.

The Blues are attempting to negotiate a player-plus-cash deal to bring Mbappe to west London, according to the Daily Record.

The report indicates that PSG has encouraged Chelsea to pursue Kylian Mbappe’s transfer after direct talks between Todd Boehly and the club president regarding the potential move.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi previously stated that Mbappe had a two-week window to sign a new contract with PSG; otherwise, the club would consider selling him.

However, it has been four weeks since that statement, and Mbappe has not committed to a long-term future with PSG, nor has he finalized a deal with any other club.

Recently, during Chelsea’s pre-season tour in the United States, Mauricio Pochettino was asked if he would like to reunite with both Mbappe and Neymar at Chelsea.

“I think in our past we were at Paris Saint Germain and with Kylian and think I need to be conscious that I cannot talk,” said the Argentine. “Everything you talk is too much noise. It is a situation that is very delicate and one they need to fix in Paris with Kylian.

“For our side I have nothing to say. We are working on our reality, our reality is different. From my side, nothing to say, only to supporter them. I hope they find a solution for both sides.

“It is a club that I love, because I was a player, a captain and coach. With Kylian we create a very good relationship, I hope they can find the best solution for both sides.”
