Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp Reveals Top Priority to Board After Unveiling Three-Man Wishlist

According to reports, Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, allegedly desires to prioritize the transfer pursuit of Manu Kone following the Reds’ official signing of Alexis Mac Allister.

Klopp is still eager to enhance his midfield and apparently thinks that the young talent from Borussia Monchengladbach should be the next target.

Liverpool, the Premier League team, has identified the midfield as a major concern ahead of the summer transfer window. Last season, several key midfielders struggled with their form, and James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who had been with the club for a long time, all departed.

While the signing of Mac Allister was confirmed recently, Liverpool intends to continue strengthening their midfield options under Klopp. It is reported that the next priority is the acquisition of French U21 talent, Manu Kone.

Before the start of the 2023-24 season, it is believed that at least two more midfielders could arrive at Anfield. Kone is said to be at the top of a shortlist that also includes Mason Mount and Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich.

As per reports from the Mirror, Liverpool is currently engaged in discussions with Borussia Monchengladbach regarding a potential transfer fee of £30 million for Manu Kone. Among the three players identified by Klopp, Liverpool is purportedly the most confident in securing the 22-year-old’s signature. Kone, who participated in 30 Bundesliga matches last season, is the primary target for Liverpool’s midfield reinforcement.

Despite Mason Mount’s potential move from Chelsea to Manchester United, Liverpool is not giving up on pursuing him. It is rumored that the English star has agreed to personal terms with the Red Devils, and negotiations are ongoing for a £50 million transfer deal.

Regarding Ryan Gravenberch, another target for Liverpool, there are reports suggesting that Bayern Munich might be willing to let the Dutch midfielder leave during the current summer transfer window. Bayern acquired Gravenberch from Ajax for £20 million last year but could be tempted to sell him for the right price.

Liverpool’s pursuit of additional midfielders comes after they officially announced the signing of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton. The Reds managed to secure the services of the World Cup winner in a deal estimated to be around £35 million.

Klopp spoke glowingly of his new recruit, telling the club’s official website: “We are adding a very talented, very smart, very technically skilled boy to our squad and this is super news, really it is.

“I do not think the football world needs me to say too much about Alexis’ qualities because they are already pretty well known but it is clear that he is someone who can play in a number of positions in the midfield and is an all-rounder, I would say. He is calm and composed and someone with proper game intelligence.”
