Liverpool plan to hijack Arsenal’s move to sign Lavia

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, there are reports that Liverpool is planning to disrupt Arsenal’s attempt to sign Southampton player Romeo Lavia during the upcoming summer transfer window.

After a disappointing season, Liverpool is focused on overhauling their midfield. Jurgen Klopp is said to be interested in acquiring at least two midfielders, and the club has already completed the signing of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Hove Albion.

It is now believed that Liverpool is actively pursuing another midfield option, with several players being linked to the club, including Manu Kone, Khephren Thuram, and Gabriel Veiga. However, Romeo Lavia is emerging as a serious target for Liverpool.

In the meantime, it is being said that Arsenal has made strengthening their midfield a top priority for this summer and aims to sign two new midfielders for the upcoming season. Declan Rice has been identified as their main target, but Romeo Lavia is also under their consideration.

Fabrizio Romano has previously mentioned that Arsenal has initiated discussions with Southampton regarding the potential transfer of Lavia and that they are making progress in their negotiations with the club from the South Coast.

In a recent Twitter update, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Liverpool is now aiming to hijack Arsenal’s pursuit of Romeo Lavia. Romano further stated that Liverpool has initiated talks to inquire about the terms and conditions for acquiring the young midfielder.

“Understand Liverpool asked conditions of Roméo Lavia deal, they’re in the race. Arsenal, working on this deal for 15 days — no official bid from both clubs yet.”

It has been speculated that Southampton, facing relegation, will be compelled to sell Romeo Lavia during the current summer transfer window. The club is reportedly seeking a fee of £45 million to allow the midfielder to depart. Lavia had an impressive debut season in the Premier League after joining Southampton last year, which has attracted the attention of prominent English clubs such as Arsenal and Liverpool.

Recognized for his exceptional talent, Lavia is seen as a player with the potential to develop into a world-class midfielder in the future. As a result, his acquisition would be a significant coup for either Arsenal or Liverpool should they secure his services this summer.

The race to sign Lavia could become intriguing if both Liverpool and Arsenal find themselves competing for his signature in the transfer window. Only time will tell which club emerges as the victor in this pursuit.
