Manchester United emerge as favourites to sign Aurelien Tchouameni this summer

According to reports, Manchester United are making efforts to acquire the services of Aurelien Tchouameni, the midfielder currently playing for Real Madrid, during the upcoming summer transfer window. The 23-year-old had attracted interest from several clubs after an impressive performance for Monaco in the 2021-22 season, but it was Real Madrid who managed to secure his signature.

Tchouameni featured regularly for Real Madrid last season, making 50 appearances across various competitions and providing four assists. However, he did not start in the later stages of their Champions League campaign. The competition for a starting position at the Bernabeu will intensify next season with the arrival of Jude Bellingham in a high-profile transfer from Borussia Dortmund.

In recent times, Arsenal have been linked with a potential move for Tchouameni, and Liverpool reportedly made a strong attempt to sign the French international last summer.

According to a report from Nacional, Manchester United is currently leading the race to sign Aurelien Tchouameni, and they are actively working to secure his services. The head coach of Man United, Erik ten Hag, reportedly considers Tchouameni as the perfect player to partner with Casemiro in the central midfield position. As a result, the directors of Manchester United are preparing to travel to Spain.

It is stated in the report that representatives from Manchester United will meet with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez to discuss the potential transfer. Real Madrid is believed to be open to selling Tchouameni for a fee of around £69 million.

While Real Madrid is reportedly interested in retaining the French midfielder, they would not obstruct his departure if he expresses a desire to pursue new opportunities after just one season in Madrid.

Aurelien Tchouameni began his professional career at Bordeaux before joining Monaco, where he played from 2020 to 2022 before making the switch to Real Madrid.

During his debut season at the Bernabeu under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti, the French midfielder played a role in winning the Copa del Rey, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup.

While Manchester United is close to finalizing the signing of Mason Mount from Chelsea for an initial fee of £55 million, it appears that head coach Erik ten Hag is interested in adding another midfielder to his squad this summer. If players such as Fred, Scott McTominay, and Donny van de Beek were to depart, it could create room in the budget for another midfield acquisition.
