Martin Odegaard breaks silence on Arsenal contract talks

Martin Odegaard expresses his contentment at Arsenal and expresses his desire to stay with the club for a long time, in light of rumors linking him to a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.

Odegaard had an exceptional season, leading Arsenal to a second-place finish in the Premier League and securing qualification for the Champions League.

The Norwegian player scored 15 goals in the league and provided seven assists. Furthermore, it was reported in May by 90min that Arsenal intended to have discussions with Odegaard regarding a potential contract extension.

At present, Martin Odegaard’s current contract runs until 2025, and he acknowledges that he is not currently personally engaged in ongoing discussions regarding a new contract.

He told TV2: “I have a few years left on the contract, I’m fine and I hope to be at the club for a long time to come.

“I have not spoken to them, that is not my task. To be honest, I don’t know how the situation is right now. Well, it’s not me who controls it. Now I’m focusing on the national team, so I may take it after the summer if they want to do something.”

In recent months, Arsenal has successfully secured new contracts for several key players, including Bukayo Saka, Aaron Ramsdale, and William Saliba.

However, the club is still aiming to make a significant signing during the current summer transfer window.

Arsenal has made a move for Declan Rice, the midfielder from West Ham, but their initial offer of £80 million with £10 million in add-ons was rejected by the Europa Conference League champions.

Additionally, Arsenal is also interested in acquiring Kai Havertz. However, they may face competition from Bayern Munich in their pursuit of the German international.
