Nottingham Forest Pursue Record-Breaking Transfer of 29-Goal Manchester City Striker Carlos Borges

Nottingham Forest is expressing interest in signing Carlos Borges, a young player from Manchester City. The club has initiated initial discussions regarding a possible transfer.

Steve Cooper, the manager of Nottingham Forest, aims to strengthen his team’s scoring abilities as they get ready for their second season in the top-flight.

Nottingham Forest managed to secure their Premier League status by defeating Arsenal, a victory that incidentally also confirmed Manchester City as the champions.

Last season, Forest struggled to score goals, tallying only 38, which was one of the lowest figures in the league. Their goal-scoring situation worsened when Chris Wood, who was borrowed from Newcastle United, sustained a season-ending injury in March.

Nottingham Forest is reportedly showing interest in recruiting Carlos Borges, a promising young player from Manchester City. Borges has also been linked with Southampton and West Ham.

The 19-year-old recently received recognition as the Premier League 2 player of the season for his contributions to Manchester City’s Elite Development Squad, which secured their third consecutive PL2 title under the guidance of Brian Barry-Murphy.

In the previous season, Borges made a significant impact, directly contributing to 33 goals in 21 appearances in the PL2. Additionally, he scored four goals in the EFL Trophy and played a role in 10 goals in the UEFA Youth League.

His impressive performances have caught the attention of clubs like Nottingham Forest, who are seeking to bolster their goal-scoring abilities for the upcoming season.

In December, the young forward Carlos Borges had the opportunity to showcase his skills for the Manchester City first-team in a friendly match against Girona.

This friendly match took place as Pep Guardiola’s squad was preparing for the resumption of the Premier League season after the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup.

Borges had the chance to gain valuable experience and demonstrate his abilities at the senior level during this match.

According to ESPN, Nottingham Forest is reportedly eager to secure the services of Carlos Borges and is actively pursuing a potential transfer this summer.

Talks regarding the transfer are said to be in the early stages. Borges, who is 19 years old, has one year remaining on his current contract with Manchester City. While there is a possibility of him signing a new deal with the club, it is reported that Manchester City values the young talent at £11 million.

ESPN also suggests that Manchester City might consider offering Borges a new contract and subsequently allowing him to go out on loan to another club in order to gain regular playing time at the first-team level.

This approach would provide Borges with valuable experience while remaining under the umbrella of Manchester City’s long-term plans.

Several Manchester City players have experienced successful loan spells in recent times. Tommy Doyle and James McAtee had noteworthy campaigns while on loan at Sheffield United in the Sky Bet Championship. Their performances were impressive and showcased their talent.

In addition, Taylor Harwood-Bellis and goalkeeper James Trafford also had successful loan stints. Harwood-Bellis enjoyed a productive loan spell with Burnley, while Trafford had a fruitful experience at Bolton.

These loan opportunities provided valuable playing time and development for the Manchester City players, allowing them to gain experience and further their careers.
