Pochettino responds to Harry Kane potential Chelsea interest

Mauricio Pochettino, the new manager of Chelsea, refused to comment on whether he will pursue a reunion with England captain Harry Kane.

Pochettino and Kane had a successful partnership during their time at Tottenham, notably reaching the Champions League final in 2019. When asked about potentially recruiting Kane to bolster Chelsea’s struggling attack, Pochettino avoided giving a definitive answer.

Chelsea had a disappointing season, finishing 12th in the Premier League with their lowest goal tally in nearly a century. Despite already signing Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig and Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal, Pochettino admitted that the club is still aiming to make further improvements to their front line.

However, he did not explicitly state that he would urge the club to make a bid for Kane, who scored an impressive 30 goals in the league last season and has attracted interest from Bayern Munich due to Tottenham’s failure to qualify for European competitions.

“You are talking about one of the greatest strikers in the world,” said Pochettino. “I think it’s too unfair to talk (about a player at another club).

“The most important thing is that fans are not stupid. They are so clever. They know my relationship with him was always amazing. We have a great relationship.

“At the moment, we are thinking (in the transfer market) in a different way. We are not thinking that. We’re working hard to try to provide the squad with good quality.”
