Worries Arise at Real Madrid Over Jude Bellingham, According to SPORT Reports

Real Madrid is concerned about star midfielder Jude Bellingham after his poor performance in the Champions League quarterfinals against Manchester City, according to SPORT, citing anonymous sources.

Bellingham has already played in three El Clasicos against FC Barcelona, scoring a brace in October to sink the Catalans in a 2-1 away win at the Montjuic Stadium.

This came ahead of stealing the Super Cup from his club’s arch rival at the turn of 2024, with a Vinicius Jr. hat trick key in a 4-1 thrashing in Riyadh.

Aside from those meetings, Bellingham played the biggest game of his career on Tuesday night, when Manchester City came to the Bernabeu for the first leg of what turned out to be an exciting UCL last eight match.

While other young guns like Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo, and Phil Foden made headlines in the 3-3 thriller, Bellingham had little to no impact on the proceedings.

That could have been different if he hadn’t missed a chance early in the second half to make it 3-1, or if Three Lions teammate John Stones had switched off at the far post and failed to mark the 20-year-old from close range near the end.

Instead, Bellingham’s contributions were largely limited to arguing with the referee and protesting borderline foul calls.

He was fortunate not to be booked for shoulder barging Ruben Dias, as a yellow card in the match resulted in him being suspended for the return leg in Manchester a week later.

Movistar’s Alvaro Benito was one pundit who was unimpressed with Bellingham’s performance, calling it “disappointing,” and Madrid is also concerned, according to SPORT.

According to the newspaper, Los Blancos officials believe the number 5 is no longer a difference maker and has “lost freshness.”

“If they don’t get the best Bellingham back, it is unlikely that Madrid will be able to pull off a shock in Manchester to reach the semifinal,” SPORT says, meaning it might be a good idea to rest him for Saturday’s La Liga encounter versus Copa del Rey finalists Mallorca.

Brahim Diaz could start instead, with Madrid able to afford to draw or even lose at the weekend thanks to its comfortable eight-point lead at the top of the La Liga table.
