Wout Weghorst sends emotional farewell message to Manchester United fans

After a rather disappointing loan stint in the North West, former Manchester United forward Wout Weghorst sent a farewell message to United faithful.

The Dutch forward joined on loan from Vincent Kompany’s Burnley, but his loan at Besiktas was terminated prior to his move to Old Trafford.

During his time in Manchester, the forward scored only two goals, but despite his relative lack of goal-scoring prowess, he was always beloved with United fans.

Before scoring against Real Betis in the UEFA Europa League, Weghorst scored against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup.

A farewell note from Weghorst

The forward posted a farewell video to United fans on his social media profile, which included his only goal at Old Trafford.

His loan with the club expired on June 30, but he had remained mute until now.

The Dutch forward thanked United’s fans for their support, stating that he thoroughly relished his time at the club.

“From winning silverware to scoring my first goal at Old Trafford against Betis, It’s been a dream come true. It was an unbelievable privilege to wear the shirt and to the United fans, thank you.”

Even though the forward only scored two goals for the Red Devils, it was evident that he cared deeply about United and was eager to make a positive impression.

Weghorst was only a short-term alternative.

The Dutchman was acquired on loan as a result of United’s lack of options in forward areas, which was primarily due to Anthony Martial’s injury concerns throughout the season. United required options in the forward position, so they turned to Weghorst, who had performed well in Turkey.

The forward never lacked in tenacity and was always willing to sacrifice himself for the team, but he was ultimately a disappointing presence up front during a time when United required a dependable forward.

The forward will be remembered for his performance in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United, where he was unquestionably United’s best player in their 2-0 victory.

Weghorst’s destination is Hoffenheim

The striker’s upcoming transfer has been decided. He will not be returning to Burnley for their Premier League season, which is presumably good news for United, as he would have scored against us ineluctably.

Now, he’s headed to the Bundesliga. According to BILD, Hoffenheim are close to an agreement.

According to Fabrizio Romano, he will depart Burnley on loan for the German club and will undergo a medical this week in order to finalize the transfer.
